"Gossipy, scandalous housewives behaving badly might make this the juiciest read of the season。--Library Journal (starred review)

Sultry, salacious and utterly unpredictable。。。。You'll devour it。--Riley Sager, New York Times bestselling author of Home Before Dark

The Hunting Wives share more than target practice, martinis, and bad behavior in this novel of obsession, seduction, and murder。

Sophie O'Neill left behind an envy-inspiring career and the stressful, competitive life of big-city Chicago to settle down with her husband and young son in a small Texas town。 It seems like the perfect life with a beautiful home in an idyllic rural community。 But Sophie soon realizes that life is now too quiet, and she's feeling bored and restless。

Then she meets Margot Banks, an alluring socialite who is part of an elite clique secretly known as the Hunting Wives。 Sophie finds herself completely drawn to Margot and swept into her mysterious world of late-night target practice and dangerous partying。 As Sophie's curiosity gives way to full-blown obsession, she slips farther away from the safety of her family and deeper into this nest of vipers。

When the body of a teenage girl is discovered in the woods where the Hunting Wives meet, Sophie finds herself in the middle of a murder investigation and her life spiraling out of control。

3。5 stars。 Entertaining, but really disliked the main character

After a few odd time jumps that seemed unnecessary at the beginning of the book, I almost got annoyed and DNF'd it。 But, there was something so intriguing about a woman doing so many stupid things all in a row that I was drawn in and wanted to see how it ended。 The writing was meh, but the suspense was pretty good and the twists kept me turning pages。 After a few odd time jumps that seemed unnecessary at the beginning of the book, I almost got annoyed and DNF'd it。 But, there was something so intriguing about a woman doing so many stupid things all in a row that I was drawn in and wanted to see how it ended。 The writing was meh, but the suspense was pretty good and the twists kept me turning pages。 。。。more

Will get you out of a reading slump and the ending shook me

This one made me feel icky throughout。

2。5 stars, I didn’t like Sophie at all, the twists were somewhat predictable。 I was hoping it’d be better but it’s hard to like a book when you don’t like the characters and find them irredeemable。

-enjoyed the short chapters-the main character made such terrible choices, I had a hard time feeling badly for her-a quick, predictable read!-holy shit all these women do is get drunk!! there are so many descriptions of what wine tastes like and "it when down smoothly, like silk" and I was SO over it。 I don't care, it adds nothing to the story, and it was repetitive -enjoyed the short chapters-the main character made such terrible choices, I had a hard time feeling badly for her-a quick, predictable read!-holy shit all these women do is get drunk!! there are so many descriptions of what wine tastes like and "it when down smoothly, like silk" and I was SO over it。 I don't care, it adds nothing to the story, and it was repetitive 。。。more

The amount of alcohol consumption in this book is astounding。

I liked this book。 I hated the main character, along with just about every other character in it。 But Sophie, wow。 She is weirdly obsessed with being friends with terrible people and she made the worst decisions over and over again and I just wanted to scream some sense into her。 That all being said, it was a train wreck of a story that I couldn't help but devour。 I liked this book。 I hated the main character, along with just about every other character in it。 But Sophie, wow。 She is weirdly obsessed with being friends with terrible people and she made the worst decisions over and over again and I just wanted to scream some sense into her。 That all being said, it was a train wreck of a story that I couldn't help but devour。 。。。more

This book made me FURIOUS my god!!!!! I really liked the story line, it was basic in a way but the author really knew how to make it captivating。 Once I was about 35% in, I had to finish it, I couldn't put it down。I wanted to punch every single character the whole time, (except for Jack and Graham shoutout to them for being the only good people) mostly Margot and Shophie。Sophie just makes bad decission after bad decission, I wanted to shake her and yell at her to do better。I only give it 4 and n This book made me FURIOUS my god!!!!! 4/5 ⭐️ this book and I have a love/hate thing going on。 The first 25% of the book is a slow burn and then it picks up to the point you don’t want to out it down。 Chock full of drama with a capital D, alcoholic housewives and some shady relationships。 I didn’t like a single character in this book and wanted to shake the narrator so many times, but I had to know what happened next。

McKenna Madis

hated every single character, especially sophie。 this book was so messed up but i had to find out the ending。 this book was just a complete mess of every single thing that could go wrong

Hated the ending, good build up, somewhat unrealistic characters and plot

I got this book because it looked interesting and caught my attention。 This was a great suspenseful but light read。 It's not too serious but also has this playful almost non-believable side to it so you don't really think about how awful or crazy the whole situation is。 Could these ladies drink anymore? I mean seriously I don't think you can read more than 4 pages before someone is getting a drink, it's literally unrealistic or just ridiculous and shameful and I like to drink too but come on。 I I got this book because it looked interesting and caught my attention。 This was a great suspenseful but light read。 It's not too serious but also has this playful almost non-believable side to it so you don't really think about how awful or crazy the whole situation is。 Could these ladies drink anymore? I literally don't even know how to explain how much I loved reading this!! Wow。 I was already invested by the prologue。 If I wasn't busy the first day I started reading I would've finished this one in a day。First Sophie, the new girl in town with her family wanted change in her life and she definitely got it when she meets Margot。 She's obsessed with Margot and everything about her。 Sophie ends up being invited to join Margot's group of friends。 They call themselves The Hunting Wives and as soon I literally don't even know how to explain how much I loved reading this!! "Wild ride" is definitely a great description for this book。 The main character, Sophie, isn't too likeable, but you can't tear your eyes away from the pages as she and her family move to a small town in a new state and as Sophie takes up with a new group of girlfriends。 If you don't like books that end with everything all neatly tied up, then this might not be the book for you, but it is definitely worth reading regardless。 Plenty of sex, intrigue, suspense, and "wtf" moments。 It will make you "Wild ride" is definitely a great description for this book。 The main character, Sophie, isn't too likeable, but you can't tear your eyes away from the pages as she and her family move to a small town in a new state and as Sophie takes up with a new group of girlfriends。 If you don't like books that end with everything all neatly tied up, then this might not be the book for you, but it is definitely worth reading regardless。 Plenty of sex, intrigue, suspense, and "wtf" moments。 It will make you question how well we really know our spouses and friends。 I'm a new (and huge!) fan of this author。 。。。more

4。5??? I actually loved this story!!! It didn’t feel like a thriller until about halfway in but I still was so entranced in the drama of this friend group。 Not a full 5 star bc of the underage sex that made me uncomfy hehe

Not what I was expecting at allllll。 But wayyy better than what the synopsis had me thinking was gonna happen

It’s well-written, even though every character is entirely loathsome。
